In the beginning Arai Seisakusho

1951
  • Yoshio Arai founded Arai Seisakusho LTD in Taito-ku, Tokyo Japan.
1955
  • Started producing leather packing and leather button for industrial use.
  • Discovered the "suction effect" of the seal and began development of high performance rubber seals made with synthetic rubber.

Establishment of ARS and rubber seal business

1956
  • The establishment of ARS rubber seal. Yoshio Arai President of his founded company Arai Seisakusho.
  • Arai is registered as ARS the corporate mark and rubber seal as the product name.
1957
  • Yamaha adopted the rubber seal for all their motorcycles.
1959
  • Head office moved to Katsushika-ku, Tokyo Japan.
  • Honda adopts rubber seal for Super Cab engine.
1960
  • ARS now supplier for Honda and Yamaha.
  • Honda motorcycles dominate the Isle of Man TT race.
1963
  • ARS received JIS factory certification for o-rings.

New Product Development Creates the base for business expansion

1965
  • Honda and Yamaha adopt the use of "ARFLON" products.
  • ARS received JIS factory certification for oil seals.
1966
  • Tsukuba factory is founded.
1967
  • Toyota adopts ARS valve stem seal for their entire Crown model.
1968
  • Garlock(US) made an equity participant. Importing of rollers for copying machines begins.
1970
  • Supplying special seals to Matsushita Denki for use in washing machines.
1972
  • Success in developing fixed rollers for copying machines.
  • Seeing the world market and stepping up with a global strategy.

1978
  • Announcement of the ARFLON based new product the "FS Seal" and ARS applied for international patent.
  • ARS begins producing reed valves for motorcycle engines.
1985
  • The Tsukuba West factory for production of OA products is founded.
  • Iwate Arai Co., Ltd. Is founded in Iwaizumi, Iwate.
1986
  • The development of Fluororubber and the "KZ Seal".
  • ARS applied for international and domestic patents.
  • Technology licensing to Hi-Tech Ancillaries(India)
1987
  • First plant in the US, founded (current) Arai Americas, Inc. In the US in the state of Virginia.
1989
  • PT. Arai Rubber Seal Indonesia (current) is founded in Tangerang, Indonesia.
1991
  • Thai Arai Co., Ltd. (current) in Siracha, Thailand.
1992
  • Niigata Arai Co., Ltd. (current) in Tokamachi, Niigata, Japan.
1994
  • Equity participation in Hi-Tech Ancillaries. Name changed to Hi-Tech Arai Ltd.
1995
  • Wuhan Arai Oil Seal Mfg Co., Ltd. Founded Wuhan, China.

  • Vietnam Arai Co., Ltd. (current) founded in Haiphong, Vietnam.

  • Head office moved to Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan.
2014
  • Head office moved to Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
2015
  • ARS received ISO/TS16949.
